Andy Butler is first and foremost the frontman of the popular band Hercules & Love Affair, however that’s not all – he’s also a DJ and a very charismatic persona on the electronic and alternative music scene. His journey with music has started as he was a teenager and spent time in underground clubs in his hometown, Denver. After that, he escaped to New York, where the rave culture developed and strongly influenced his later music.
Hercules & Love Affair – Butler’s flag project – was created in 2008 and up until now, they’ve recorded 3 studio albums. The band combines house, acid and disco genres, which should be all that surprising, given the freedom of those sounds from the past inspired Butler from the very beginning of his music career. Over the years, the final squad of the band overcame lots of changes, however it’s worth noticing that some of it’s female singers are now famous solo vocalists – like Kim Ann FOxman and Aérei Negrot. Kele Okereke of Bloc Party also appeared as a guest in some of Hercules & Love Affair’s songs.
As for Andy’s DJ sets, usually thay are a blend of his favourite disco sounds, dancefloor house and oldschool electro, which he mixes fluently with the biggest Hercules & Lovve Affair hits.
